The Centre for Research of Human Resources and the Environment, University of Indonesia (CRHRE-UI) was established on August 1, 1979 by the issuance of a letter of establishment No.037/SK/R/UI/1979 by the Rector of the University of Indonesia. Initially the newly established institution was named as Environmental Study Center (ESC-UI). However, by agreement with other Environmental Study Centers all over Indonesia, that PSL-UI is specializing itself in the field of human resources.
Hence on May 15, 1984 the name was changed into Centre for Research of Human Resources and the Environment (CRHRE-UI).
